About Dehradun
The city with hills, greenery and the passionate weather all the time is famous for its natural resources and the educational institutes. Dehradun is one of the highest reviving rain zones in North India.
Dehradun is also known as the ‘Doon Valley’ surrounded by the astonishing hills of Himalayas, encircled between the two famous rivers- The Ganges on the east and The Yamuna on the West. Dehradun attracts tourist by its picturesque landscape, the milder climate the famous Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple, The Malsi Deer Park The Robert`s Cave and much more. It has some of the finest school of India like the Don School, Welham School for Girls and Boys, and the research institutions like the Forest Research Institute and the Indian Military Academy. The Doon Valley is connected with the Hindu holy cities- Haridwar and Rishikesh with the Himalayan pilgrimage circuit of Chota Char Dham.
Culture and Cuisine:
People of different tribes stay here and follow the traditional culture. ‘Barada Nati’ is the unique music and dance which seen on occasions. The food of Dehradun is highly nutritious and prepared with the huge amount of milk and butter the main dishes are Singodi, Kandalee ka Saag, Kumaoni Raita, Gahat ki Dal, Aloo ke Gutke, Sani Hui and much more; and in dessert, people love to have Jhangora ki Kheer, Bal Mithai and famous Arsa.
